About Affidavi
Affidavi is document-preparation software for Ontario litigation practice. It takes an affidavit and its exhibits, a motion or application record, or an Affidavit of Documents, and turns them into a court-ready PDF: exhibits lettered and placed, every reference hyperlinked, bookmarks built, pages capped and named the way the court portal expects — all on your own Mac or PC.
What Affidavi does
- One drop. Drop the affidavit and the loose exhibit files together. Affidavi finds the affidavit in the pile, reads each exhibit reference, and proposes where every file belongs — the doubtful ones flagged, never guessed.
- Hyperlinked records. References in the affidavit link to their exhibits; every exhibit carries a back button to the paragraph that cites it. Rotated pages, compound labels and re-assembled records included.
- Motion and application records with numbered tabs, an index whose numbers always match, and hyperlinks from the index to each tab.
- The Affidavit of Documents (Form 30A or 30B): Schedule A becomes the index of the productions brief — every row linked to its tab, every tab linked back to the schedule.
- True redaction. Redacted content is removed from the file itself, then independently verified; an output that cannot be verified is set aside, never handed to you as finished.
- Deadlines. Limitation periods, appeal and leave clocks, set-down and dismissal dates, motion confirmation and the construction-lien clock — computed conservatively from the dates you enter, so a clock rings early, never late.
- Filing profiles for 80+ Canadian courts and portals: portal-safe names, size and page caps, automatic volume splitting. If a file would not comply, Affidavi will not emit it.
What Affidavi does not do
Affidavi is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. It does not store your documents in a cloud, does not send them to an AI service, and has no account that can browse your matters. It does not write your affidavit for you — the words are yours; Affidavi builds the record around them. It is not a general PDF editor either: the finished PDF opens in Acrobat, Preview or any viewer, and you can keep using those for everything else.
Where your documents are processed
Entirely on your computer. Affidavi runs natively on macOS and Windows and processes every document locally. The only thing that ever touches the network is licence activation — the app sends a licence key and a machine identifier, never a document, a file name or a matter name. The privacy notice spells out exactly what this website and the app collect.
Principles
- Your documents never leave your computer. There is nothing for a breach notification to be about.
- Fail closed. If a file would not comply with the court's rules, it is not emitted. If a check could not run, the result says so — a check that did not run is never reported as a pass.
- Verified means verified. A redaction is confirmed by reading the finished file back, not by trusting that the black box was drawn.
- Plain words. Every message in the app is written for the lawyer or clerk reading it, not for the programmer who wrote it.
Who makes it
Affidavi is built in Ontario, Canada, by a small independent team, and designed around Ontario civil practice — the Rules of Civil Procedure, Case Center and the Superior Court's practice directions. It is sold under the Affidavi name; Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for subscriptions.
