The Affidavi Overview: a litigation matter's Draft, Sort, Format and File stages on one board, with the matter's parties, court and file number at the top
How it works

One pipeline, from first draft to filed record.

Each stage does one job and hands off to the next — the same way your matter actually moves.

1

Draft

Ontario court forms as coordinated kits: affidavits (Form 4D), notices of motion, draft orders, factums and construction-lien forms — all sharing one caption. Word and PDF from the same source.

2

Sort

Drop a folder of loose files. Guided by your draft, Affidavi proposes where each exhibit belongs — page by page, with you in control of every placement.

3

Format

Exhibit covers and stamps, hyperlinked references, bookmarks and back buttons — a record a judge can actually navigate.

4

File

Filing profiles for 80+ Canadian courts and portals: portal-safe names, size and page caps, auto-split volumes. If a file would not comply, Affidavi will not emit it.

Affidavi's Format for filing stage: drop a PDF or Word record, choose what to add — hyperlinks, back-buttons, bookmarks, exhibit pages, OCR — and create a court-ready PDF

The Format stage: drop the record, choose what to add, create — court-ready in one pass.

Private by design

Nothing to upload. Nothing to leak.

Affidavi processes your documents entirely on your computer. There is no document cloud, no account that can browse your matters, and nothing for a breach notification to be about. The only thing that ever touches the network is licence activation.

Features

The tedious parts of motion practice, handled.

Motion records with numbered tabs

Every document behind its own Tab page, an index whose numbers always match, and hyperlinks from the index to each tab.

Affidavit of Documents

Generate the Form 30A or bring your own. Schedule A becomes the index — every row linked to its tab, every tab linked back to the schedule.

Construction lien kit

Preserve, perfect, respond or discharge — the prescribed forms plus a conservative deadline clock computed from the dates you enter.

True redaction

Redacted content is removed from the file itself — not hidden under a black box waiting to be copied out.

Exhibit linking that holds up

References in the affidavit link to their exhibits; every exhibit carries a back button to the paragraph that cites it. Rotated pages, compound labels and re-assembled records included.

Word in, court out

Bring Word documents or PDFs. Get consistent, court-compliant output with real bookmarks and working links — ready for the portal.

Guides & free tools

Know the rules. Then let the software follow them.

Practical, sourced guides to Ontario's electronic-filing expectations — and a free deadline calculator.

How to prepare an electronic motion record

Tabs, index, bookmarks and hyperlinks — what the Superior Court expects a motion record to look like in Case Center.

Hyperlinking an affidavit to its exhibits

Why judges insist on it, how to do it by hand, and the pitfalls that quietly break links.

Construction lien deadline calculator

Preserve, perfect and set-down dates under Ontario's Construction Act — computed conservatively from the dates you enter. Free.

FAQ

Questions lawyers ask.

Does Affidavi work with Case Center (formerly CaseLines)?

Yes. Affidavi prepares the PDFs Case Center expects: text-searchable, bookmarked, hyperlinked, under the 500-page-per-document cap, with portal-safe file names. You upload the finished PDF exactly as the practice direction asks.

Do my documents ever leave my computer?

No. Affidavi processes everything locally on your Mac or PC. There is no document cloud and no account that can browse your matters. The only network call is licence activation.

Which courts does Affidavi support?

Affidavi is built for Ontario civil practice first, and ships filing profiles for 80+ Canadian courts and portals — portal-safe naming, size and page caps, and automatic volume splitting follow the profile you pick.

What file types can I bring?

Word documents, PDFs and photos. Word converts on your computer, and scanned PDFs can be OCR'd so text search and hyperlinks work.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — a 14-day free trial with every feature included, on macOS and Windows.

Does Affidavi redact documents properly?

Yes — true redaction: redacted content is removed from the file itself, not hidden under a black box waiting to be copied out.

Is Affidavi a law firm?

No. Affidavi is document-preparation software. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
