Before you upload a client's affidavit to an online tool to add hyperlinks or build a bundle, it is worth asking a plain question: where does that file actually go?

How most tools work

Most cloud bundling and PDF-linking services follow the same pattern — your documents are uploaded to the vendor's servers, processed there, and sent back. For a marketing brochure, that is unremarkable. For a sworn affidavit with a client's financial records, medical history or corporate documents attached as exhibits, it means confidential material now sits on a third party's infrastructure, at least for the duration of processing and often longer in caches and backups.

Why it is a confidentiality question

Every place a privileged document is copied is one more place it can be exposed, and one more entry in the list a breach notification would have to cover. Some clients — and some retainers — restrict where their material may be stored or processed at all. "We upload it to a service to add the links" is not always an answer those arrangements allow.

The local alternative

Court-ready formatting does not actually require the cloud. Affidavi processes every document entirely on your own Mac or PC. There is no document cloud, no account that can browse your matters, and nothing uploaded to build the record. The only thing that ever touches the network is licence activation.

The result is the same court-ready output — hyperlinked, bookmarked, portal-safe — without the confidentiality trade-off. Both, not one or the other.
